Martin's recordings

China

These three pieces were played on a hammered dulcimer, probably a Yangqin, by a girl entertaining the guests in the bar of a hotel in Chang Ping, China in February 2005. They were recorded on a tiny portable USB recorder, hence in mono with background babble and birdsong.

However, her delicate playing is first-class.

Since I don't know the names of the pieces I simply refer to them by the notation used in the Dictionary of Musical Themes: the tone sequence when transposed into C. From the context in which they were played, they may well be pieces from the "Standard repertory". If you can help to identify them, please write.
